The Commons is an independent podcast written, edited and produced by Bowdoin students. We tell stories about Bowdoin, Maine, and our lives.
You can listen to our episodes on SoundCloud, on this website, or on iTunes.
Meet our Producers
Helen wakes up and falls asleep to podcasts. During the time in between she enjoys eating fruit and watching documentaries.
Cam loves pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and podcasts. He is especially intersted in audio development and design. In his free time, he wins IM badminton matches by default.
meet our contributors
Sylvia is interested in all types of story-telling, no matter what format it comes in. Her favorite podcast is Lore, and her favorite cryptid is the Pope Lick Monster.
Diego grew up in the wilderness of southwest Virginia and ever since has carried a love of trees and rocks with him wherever he goes. He also loves dogs.
Emily was raised to the tune of NPR while her mom drove back and forth to soccer games across the Great Plains of Kansas City. When she got old enough to drive herself to her soccer games, she chose podcasts instead. She also enjoys speaking German and talking about food.
Emma has loved to put words on the page since the days of Mr. Sketch markers and construction paper. She has gradually upgraded her medium and now cherishes her column in The Orient, her radio show, and watching a good episode of Planet Earth with friends.
Jack's hobbies include storytelling of any kind, listening to podcasts, watching and reviewing movies, eating at Waffle House, and pretending not to enjoy The Bachelor when his friends watch it.
Jean-Baptiste is just your average Joe-Baptiste. He is interested in philosophy, literature, and language. If you can get excited about something, he will probably get excited about it too.
Meet our Music Editor
Sam is a music contributor for The Commons, and uses an electric violin and loop pedal to weave sonic tapestries. When not composing or playing music (https://soundcloud.com/samkyzivat), he can either be found singing old jazz standards with the Bowdoin College Meddiebempsters or in his room watching Polarflix.
Meet our Founders
Jodi is the Co-founder and Executive Producer of The Commons. She is so excited that this seemingly crazy pipe dream has not only become a reality, but has also truly surpassed her expectations.
Talia is a co-founder, executive producer, website designer, and music coordinator for The Commons. She hopes to one day get paid for this job.
As a Co-founder and Executive Producer, Büşra spends her hours working on the podcast even when it means sleepless nights and coffee fueled days. Though at times it is very challenging, she thinks all that effort is really worth it for the great feedback she gets from friends and loyal listeners
